   an origin story:

Ever had a dream that you do all you can to make it come true..... well, here is where we begin.
Waaaayyy back in the early 2000's, when deciding where to live and what to do after "early retirement", a happy little Canadian couple decided that leaving Canada was first on the list.  They would find a lovely little Caribbean hot spot with jungles and endless beaches and start a new chapter.  Enter the "beach bar" and off they went.  Several years later, with the success of a popular expat hotspot under their belts, they wanted to "kick things up a notch". They wanted to give all these wonderful travelers they had met a new and exciting experience.  Something out of the ordinary, something unique, something special. Aiming to deliver something that was not available everywhere, totally different from the "beach vibe" and truly a gem to discover.... Zafiro Lounge was born.  Zafiro (meaning sapphire) officially opened it's doors in 2022, tucked away in a colonial plaza in the heart of Las Terrenas.  As of 2024, Zafiro has relocated and is now 4 times the size as before.  It has increased the inventory of available treasures to over 150 different bottles from all over the world.

We invite you to find us on your next vacation or maybe you live here and have been looking for something different.  Come alone, or come with friends, and say hello.  Enjoy a specially prepared cocktail; taste a whisky you have never heard of; and enjoy our weekly happy hours and all our special events.  You can even book your private event.
